Task-first field guides

Practical guides for choosing and verifying UI patterns.

Start with observable interface behavior, move through nearby alternatives, and finish with requirements a coding agent and reviewer can test.

Guide library

Identify the pattern before you choose the component

The library stays deliberately small until a new guide can answer a distinct task without duplicating a pattern or comparison page.

How to identify UI patterns you cannot name

Learn how to turn visual clues into behavior evidence, compare semantics and presentation, eliminate near matches, document uncertainty, and create an implementation brief with observable checks.

Why there is only one guide today

Pattern pages already answer definitions

Each of the 20 pattern pages covers one reviewed concept, its behavior contract, common mistakes, related terms, sources, implementation brief, and acceptance checks. A separate article that only repeats “what is a Tooltip” would split the same intent across two pages.

Comparison pages already answer choices

Each of the six comparison pages handles one high-ambiguity decision. New guides are added only when they serve a broader workflow, such as identifying an unknown component before the user knows which pattern or comparison page to open.
